Designing a Man Cave

July 17, 2015

The man cave continues to be a popular trend and is a great way to use a large space, basement or an extra room in your home. Once you have completed designing this room, it will consist of various items you and your family like to do when just hanging out and relaxing.

Despite its name, it can also serve as a family recreation room, if you can pry the remote out of dad’s hands. Good luck with that one, especially if there are multiple TV screens in the room.

You can put your man cave together in stages, so start with a basic design. Improve upon the aesthetics of the room first and then improve on features over time. The room can be as basic or elaborate as you would like and you can incorporate your favorite past-times and games. Be sure to include décor items that show off your favorite sports memorabilia, hobbies or things that appeal to you and your personality. Read on for more tips for designing a man cave of your own.

Standard Items

A TV is great, but what about kicking it up a notch and having multiple TVs placed in your man cave for viewing? Either way a TV is a must-have for any man cave. Don’t forget about a surround sound system to go with the TV. Your comfort is a must and most guys would love having their very own recliner for watching a game and relaxing.

If you are planning on entertaining family and friends, a refrigerator and bar will come in very handy.  It’s a convenient way to keep interruptions minimal and it will keep your favorite drinks cold for you and your guests.

Unique Items

You can have unusual items like a craps or hockey table. Imagine your friends walking into your man cave and viewing a gaming table right in the middle of the room. How about a bowling lane? This is possible if your room is long enough for a lane. A putting green can be set up in just about any room as these can range from one hole to multiple holes depending on how you set it up
