How to Throw a Great Winter Party in Your Home
December 11, 2014The holidays have arrived, which means it’s time to throw a fantastic winter party! At Luetgert Development, we want our customers to show off their homes and enjoy celebrating this festive time of year with friends and family. Here are some tips about throwing a holiday party and how to prepare your home for guests.
Make a List and Check it Twice
Having a plan in place before throwing your gathering will lessen your stress later. Make a list of all the items you will need, from the food and décor to the entertainment. Then decide who you would like to invite. Do you want a small gathering or a big open house with lots of guests? The holidays are a busy time of year, so be sure to send out invitations a month in advance.
Deck the Halls
Now that you have a plan, it’s time to pull all your holiday décor out of storage. Find the boxes of holiday lights and supplies and start decorating! This is also a good time to tidy up and move furniture around for your guests. Have plenty of seating available both indoors and outdoors. The weather may be getting chillier, but you can still entertain outdoors, especially in Florida.
Winter Party Food and Drinks
All that’s left now is the food and to stock up on drinks. Decide whether you want to have a potluck, cook ahead, or have it catered. Potlucks decrease the amount of food you have to prepare, but require some planning. Make it clear in your invitations and keep a record of what each person is bringing. For beverages, provide a variety to accommodate all tastes and age groups. If you are inviting a lot of company, don’t worry about setting up a formal dining room – try buffet style!
