Mrs. Luetgert’s Top Tips For Building a New Home
February 12, 2015Our Builder’s Wife Offers Top 7 Tips For Building a New Home
As the wife of a custom home builder, I have lived in spec homes built by our company, Luetgert Development Corporation
As a result, I also have become experienced in the home building process. And I have grown to appreciate the different things that can make your home-building experience exciting and get you the dream home you’ve always wanted. In today’s blog post, I am sharing my knowledge and experience with you.
If you’re in the process of having a new home built, consider these seven tips from the wife of a custom home builder:
Take Your Time With Your Plans
Get the plan you want. Hire the best architect you can afford. Making changes after the fact occurs when people skimp on this detail and it causes more time and money.
Realize You Can’t Have It All
You will have to come to this realization when you are picking out materials. Believe me, it will be okay in the end. Think about where you spend most of your time in your home and don’t skimp there.
Have Fun With The Process
This is your dream home. It’s supposed to be an enjoyable process. When you are traveling to pick out items for your new home – like granite for the kitchen countertops or tile for flooring – stop and have a nice lunch afterwards with your spouse. It will do wonders for helping you to agree on materials, and do wonders for your marriage as well.
Talk To Your Builder
If you are having second thoughts about something involving your home, just bring it up to Chris or the licensed general contractor or builder for your home. This happens all the time and it’s just part of the process.
Save Money for Interior Design
Don’t forget to budget for interior design work for your new custom built home. Having a beautiful home is great, but to really make it shine your interior needs to be up to par. Consider this when you are making your budget.
Love Your Lighting
My favorite part of picking out materials for the house is definitely, hands-down the lighting! You should really enjoy this part. I think lighting can really enhance a room’s décor. Don’t be afraid to mix and match, either. Don’t get hung up on picking a certain style or look. If you love it, it will work. I promise you!
Choose Your Contractor Carefully
My last bit of home-building advice is to trust only a certified general contractor with building the house of your dreams. They have the experience and knowledge necessary for this process. And pick only the best – Luetgert Development Corporation!
