Eight Ideas for An Elegant Entryway
August 28, 2015When it comes to decorating your home’s entryway or foyer, go with a scheme or style that you love and don’t be afraid to go all out if you’d like. After all, this is the first room or area that guests will experience upon entering your home. You want to make a good impression.
As a custom home builder in Ocala, we at Luetgert Development are experienced and knowledgeable about all things related to the home. Having built many beautiful homes with beautiful entryways, we love sharing these tips and ideas for an elegant entryway with readers of our blog.
Paint or Wallpaper
Think paint or wallpaper or a combination of both for the walls of your entryway. If you’ve gone with an overall paint color for the entryway and halls of your home, you can ramp up the style a bit by adding wallpaper or a new color of paint to just one wall here.
A Beautiful Mirror
A large, decorative mirror is perfect for your entryway. Find one you love and watch how it opens up the space, reflecting the light from any windows or nearby lighting.
Decorative Chest or Table
No entryway is complete without a table or chest. It’s the perfect spot for lamps, a vase of fresh cut flowers or other decorative items. And everyone needs a place to lay down the mail or the keys when they enter.
Gorgeous Lighting
Depending on the size of your entryway, you may want to go with a lovely chandelier or hanging light fixture that your guests can “ooh” and “aah” over when they arrive. In addition to overhead lighting, you may want to include a decorative table lamp or two.
Functional but Attractive Seating
Consider a chair or two or maybe a bench for your entryway. It’s always nice to have some extra seating available and it’s a great spot for quick conversations with unexpected guests.
A Stylish Rug
Don’t forget to add a beautiful and stylish rug for your entryway. Go contemporary or traditional as fits your style.
Artwork on the Wall
This is a great spot for displaying some of your artwork. Maybe you have a small collection of prints from one artist or a nice grouping of others that will work well in this space. It gives guests a feel for what they may encounter elsewhere in the home.
Accessories
What’s a table or chest without a few well-placed decorative accessories? This is a great spot for items that you can change out with the seasons.
